What are we doing with this?

Over the years, The Hamlin Woodshop has received requests for all types of custom signs. Some of these signs could have been fulfilled or done quicker with the use of a vinyl cutter/plotter. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the woodshop would acquire a vinyl decal cutter.

Even though you may not be familiar with these type of machines, you most likely have seen the items they produce. Vinyl cutters are responsible for most of the car window decals and wall decals you see. They are also used for creating the logo/images on tee-shirts and hoodies as seen in the pics below. Another benefit of the vinyl cutter is that it can cut vinyl stencils which can be applied to wood or other substrates. Once the stencil is applied to the wood, you paint the inside of the stencil, remove the stencil, and end up with a custom painted wood sign.

The Hamlin Woodshop now has a Graphtec CE6000 24" Series Vinyl Cutting Plotter. It is fast, powerful and portable and features a digital servo motor and contour cutting.
